1. Have a Goal

It’s important to have short and long term goals. Make a list working back from the future to present day so that you can see what it takes to achieve your goals!

  1. Get Out and Network

Social media is our friend when it comes to this. There are so many groups on LinkedIN, Facebook etc. that can put us in touch with individuals who can help you with your next career move or introduce you to someone who can. This is also where you can find out about open roles before they are known to the public. Working with an experienced Recruiter also helps!

  1. Put in 110%

Show the power to be at work that you are willing to go above and beyond to fulfill your responsibilities and thus are worthy of that promotion. This does not mean working long hours, it means working smarter!

  1. Don’t Let Your Current Role Define You

Your current role might be limited but don’t let that limit you! Always be available to help others on other projects and show that you are willing to do whatever it takes.

  1. Be an Asset

Continuously strive to upgrade your education and technical skills. Take courses/certifications, attend seminars and conferences.

  1. Visualize Already Having Your Dream Job

Do you know that if you visualize yourself farther up the career ladder, and see yourself as already having your dream job, your mind set will shift and you will begin to act in a manner that will help you achieve this. Pay attention to those already in the role that you are striving for and understand what skills they have mastered etc.

  1. Welcome Being Part of the Team

If you are viewed as a team player, it is a huge advantage to your career.
